So what does it mean to grow and especially purposefully? 2 Peter 1 v 3 -11 We learnt a couple of Wednesdays ago (during midweek service) that only living things will grow.... Books will not grow, cloths will not grow, but plants will grow, human beings will grow....and our growth is interesting as human beings! We can grow in Godly wisdom, intellectually, spiritually, financially, martially etc the list is inexhaustible We can only grow, if we're willing to grow and this growth will start from our minds.... When plants grow, they cannot grow on their own, they need sun/rain (help of God) the assistance of human beings, they need water etc In like manner we need the help of the holy spirit to grow, we need the grace of God, we need to have victory over sin or over carnality........

Verse 3 of the above verse says according to Gods divine power He has given us all things... "ALL" therefore we now need to tap on it ALL

By asking, praying, feeding on His word for

understanding, fellowshipping with brethren etc

In 1 Corinthians 9:27 Paul says; "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." In all the preaching we've heard on purposeful growth so far, have you been keeping your body under? Lets look at a number of things that might help us grow still. Verse 4 of 2 Peter 1 says God has given us exceeding great and precious promises to partake of His divine nature. So how can we achieve or get this divine nature?

Joshua 1vs 8 says we should meditate on Gods word day and night to succeed (paraphrasing) Perhaps if we start by taking a verse or two from 2 Peter 1 day and night meditating and studying it? Lets see how this goes shall we??
